Privacy policy
My Gaming Grid turns public Steam profiles into a dashboard of gaming stats. We don’t have accounts or a database, and we only use information Steam already makes public. This page explains what that means for you, whether you visit the site or someone looks up your profile.
Who runs this site
My Gaming Grid is run by Pedro Geciauskas, based in Sweden. For anything about privacy, including the requests described below, contact privacy@morphgrid.io.
What we show about Steam players
When someone looks up a Steam profile, we request this from the official Steam Web API:
- Profile basics: SteamID, display name, avatar, profile link, Steam level and the year the account was created.
- Games owned, total playtime, playtime in the last two weeks, and per-platform playtime when Steam provides it.
- Achievements for up to 30 games, including when each was unlocked, and each game’s global achievement rarity.
From this we calculate the stats on the page, such as busiest time of day or games never played. Steam only shares this information when the player’s Steam privacy settings make it public. If a profile or its game details are private, we can’t see them, and signing in wouldn’t change that (we don’t offer sign-in).
Why we use it
We rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR): letting players explore, compare and share gaming stats that they have chosen to make public on Steam. We limit the impact by using only public data, not keeping it, not selling it, not building profiles of people over time, keeping profile pages out of search engines, and honouring opt-out requests.
What we keep, and for how long
- No database, no accounts. We don’t store profiles, search history or who looked up whom.
- Short-lived caches. To stay within Steam’s limits, Steam responses are cached on our server for up to one hour (global achievement rarity, which is the same for everyone, for up to 24 hours). Shared images are cached for up to one hour. After that they’re fetched fresh or discarded.
- Your browser. The site saves two things in your browser’s local storage: profiles you recently viewed (to suggest them again) and whether you’ve seen the introduction guide. They never leave your device, and you can clear them with the “Clear” button or your browser settings.
Visiting the site
- The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
- Game artwork and avatars load directly from Steam’s servers, so Valve can see your IP address when they load.
- We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Opt out. Email privacy@morphgrid.io from any address with your SteamID or profile link, and we’ll stop showing your profile, include you in no comparisons and generate no images of your stats.
- Make your data private on Steam. Setting your Steam profile or Game details to private stops us, and every other site, from seeing it. Changes show here within about an hour.
Children
Steam accounts are for people aged 13 and over. We don’t knowingly do anything beyond showing public Steam data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms of use.
